37 Plays Writing Workshop with Brad Birch, playwright
37 Plays is a new national playwriting project led by the RSC and its partner theatres, seeking the stories of our times: the comedies, the tragedies and the untold histories. As part of its invitation to anyone in the UK of any age who would like to write a play over the next 12 months, we're hosting an ‘introduction to writing’ workshop in partnership with the RSC. Join playwright, Brad Birch to explore creating compelling characters. The workshop will include practical writing exercises to get you writing and will help you understand how to generate characters for stage. Brad Birch is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. Plays include Missing People, Black Mountain, The Brink, Gardening for the Unfulfilled and Alienated, and Tender Bolus. His work has been produced in the UK, USA, Japan, Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy and Malta. In 2013, his show Gardening… won an Edinburgh Fringe First. In 2016, he was awarded the Harold Pinter Commission at the Royal Court. His plays are published by Methuen Drama and his first anthology, Plays One, was published in 2018. He is currently writing a new feature for Rooks Nest and Film4.
Please note that Jack Holden, previously programmed, has been offered a part in a play and has had to withdraw.
