Throughout history the art world has been steeped in class and intellectual snobbery, and the most under-represented in this fight for a place at the table have been woman, working class artists, and people of colour. We bring together three writers who have addressed this through fiction and real lives. Joe Tucker's uncle Eric's enormous body of work wasn't discovered until his death and now sells for thousands. Lucy Steed's novel The Artist exposes how one woman fought back against being marginalised, and Alayo Akinkugbe considers how Black people have had no place in the history of art.
