Catherine Menon & Neema Shah - The Secrets We Keep Two emerging names in British literary fiction
Emerging British writers Catherine Menon, a university lecturer in robotics, and Neema Shah, a specialist in TV and digital marketing, join us to discuss their accomplished novels. Fragile Monsters by Catherine Menon is set between World War II and contemporary Malaysia and traces one family’s story of love, betrayal and redemption from 1920 to present against the backdrop of natural disasters and fallen empires. The book has been praised by Hilary Mantel as an example of ‘supple, artful, skilful storytelling’. Neema's Kololo Hill follows an Asian Ugandan family whose lives are torn apart when in 1972 Idi Amin decreed all Ugandan Asians must leave the country, and explores what it means to leave your home behind, and to start again. These two talent new voices will discuss the shared themes of home, families and the secrets we keep. They will be talking to Julia Wheeler.
