Jane Monckton-Smith & Jess Phillips MP - Domestic Violence Why we should be talking about it
Two women are killed by their partners every week in the UK, a figure which more than doubled during lockdown restrictions last year. Joining us to talk about this timely and important issue is Professor Jane Monckton Smith, a forensic criminologist and former police officer, whose ground breaking research has identified patterns of behaviour in those coercive relationships which escalate to murder, and outlined in her new book, In Control. She’ll be talking to Jess Phillips, MP and Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence, about why domestic homicide is so pervasive, how to identify the warning signs, and what change is needed to prevent tragedy and ensure that women are safe in their own homes. They will be talking to Clare Clark.
