JUST ADDED Sir Robin Niblett The New Cold War

Sunday 27 October 2024

Crowne Plaza Hotel

International relations between Russia and the West are at an all-time low. The Middle East is a powder keg. But is it the relationship between China and the West that we should be keeping our eye on? The contest between China and the US is global and unbridgeable, encompassing all major instruments of statecraft: diplomacy, technology, military power, intelligence, trade and investment.

A distinguished Fellow of Chatham House, also known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs, and its former director and chief executive until 2022, Sir Robin Niblett is a hugely-experienced commentator who can look at world events from a unique 360’ viewpoint. He will explain why we need new ideas to navigate the risks and to avoid a potentially devastating hot war. He’ll suggest that how we manage this contest will determine not only whether there is still space for international cooperation to deal with our many global challenges, but also who gets to dominate the 21st century.
