Sarah Rainsford Goodbye to Russia
The BBC Moscow correspondent, Sarah Rainsford was expelled in 2021 as a national security threat, given only three weeks to leave. Her very personal account looks at Russia’s slide from democracy and provides a warning of where the crushing of liberties could lead. She will describe the extraordinary people she has encountered, from the Russians such as Alexei Navalny, to the Ukrainians she found burying their dead in Bucha. It is also her own, personal reckoning with Russia: a country she saw emerge from decades of authoritarian rule in the 1990s to now be quashed.
