Hilary Mantel Remembered A Memoir of My Former Self: A Life in Writing
One of this country’s greatest writers died in 2022 and her talent is sorely missed. However, her legacy lives on in her work and we’ll be celebrating the publication of a brand new collection of her journalism spanning four decades. It includes literary criticism and personal writing, much of it is first person and in her inimitable voice: needle sharp, funny, incisive and brilliantly on point. Join us as those that knew her share their memories of her and her best work, and remind us why she was one of the best, if not the best, writer of her generation. The panel includes her long term literary editor Nicholas Pearson and the actress Lucy Briers who played Catherine of Aragon in the stage adaptation of Wolf Hall and who'll be reading a short extract from Hilary's novel Provocation she was working on when she died. Former Deputy Artistic Director of the RSC, Erica Whyman OBE, will talk about Hilary's contribution as an RSC Governor and the staging of Wolf Hall for the Company.
